North Yorkshire Council has granted planning permission for the demolition of the existing building at Southdene Pavilion and the construction of a new purpose-built Sea Cadets headquarters.
I have been closely involved in supporting the project, including writing in support of the proposals and working with those involved to help move plans forward.
The new facility will provide a much-needed home for Filey Sea Cadets, helping the organisation continue its work supporting young people in the local community.
I am delighted that plans for a new headquarters for Filey Sea Cadets have been given the green light, having been closely involved in supporting this project and helping to move plans forward, so it is fantastic to see this important milestone reached.
The new headquarters will be a tremendous asset for Filey, giving young people the opportunity to develop valuable skills, confidence and friendships.
I look forward to continuing to support the project as it progresses and congratulate everyone who has worked so hard to get it to this stage.
Planning permission was granted on 8 October 2026, subject to conditions, marking an important step towards delivering the new facility.
