I've written to the new PM along with fellow Yorkshire MPs Tom Gordon, Alec Shelbrooke and Julian Smith to urge him to make dualling the A64 a priority for No10 North.
We argue that upgrading the A64 would improve safety, reduce congestion, strengthen connections between York and the Yorkshire coast, and unlock investment and economic growth across North Yorkshire.
The A64 has held back our communities for far too long. This is one of the most important infrastructure projects for North Yorkshire, and it's encouraging to see MPs from across the political spectrum speaking with one voice.
If No10 North is serious about delivering growth across every postcode which it has made clear it is in a letter sent to all MPs this month, then the A64 is an obvious place to start. We want to work constructively with the Government to finally get this vital project moving.
The letter asks the Prime Minister and the No10 North team to work with local MPs to establish a clear route towards delivering the long-awaited dualling of the A64.
