I’ve been fighting Labour’s cruel Family Farm and Business Tax from day one - both here in North Yorkshire and in Parliament.
Locally, I’ve held packed-out meetings with hundreds of worried farmers across our constituency and a public meeting in Parliament. I stand with Kemi Badenoch, Shadow Environment Secretary Victoria Atkins and Conservative colleagues to demand Labour U-turns before it’s too late. Only the Conservatives have committed to fully reversing this tax the moment we return to power.
Just this week I sat down with the Emmerson family on their farm. Hearing them talk about the real human cost – generations of hard work potentially broken up to pay a Labour tax bill – brought home exactly why we cannot let this happen. These are proud Yorkshire families who feed the nation. They deserve our support, not a kick in the teeth from a Government that simply doesn’t understand rural life.
Labour still have one last chance in next week’s Budget to do the decent thing and axe their Family Farm Tax. If they refuse, they will never be forgiven by our farming communities – and the Conservatives will scrap it at the first opportunity.
British farming is not collateral damage for Labour’s financial incompetence. It’s the backbone of our food security and our rural way of life. I will keep fighting until this tax is gone.
