This evening I had the opportunity to catch up with some of the local farming community after attending a Christmas Carol Service at Thirsk Farmer’s Auction Mart. The service was led by Rev Dianne Gamble and organised by the Farming Community Network, which is a voluntary organisation and charity that supports farmers and families within the community during difficult times. I really applaud the work it does because the farming industry is very volatile, very much at the whim of animal disease, fluctuating market prices and the weather. This can be very isolating for farmers who often work longs hours, out of doors and this kind of support can make all the difference.
