This weekend I attended two of the finest shows in the constituency at Bilsdale and Farndale. I was delighted to be able to enjoy the best North Yorkshire agriculture has to offer. It was good to engage with local farmers who shared their thoughts on the potential benefits and the concerns on leaving the European Union. Although they saw opportunities to sell their excellent produce there was concern that the industry could be left behind in Brexit negotiations. I know that ministers at DEFRA are aware of this concern and will do whatever I can to make sure British farming is prioritised in negotiations.
