During a tour of retailers in Easingwold this weekend local MP, Kevin Hollinrake, heard concerns relating to parking and promotion of the market town. As part of Small Business Saturday Mr. Hollinrake visited several shops and talked to the owners and staff about their work. They discussed several Government initiatives including the living wage.  A recurring theme during the day was how to best encourage more visitors.

“It is important that we support our local businesses. We cannot underestimate the economic impact they have on our constituency. We need to encourage people to use our small shops and cafes and I want the Government to invest in helping traders to build up their business. I know from personal experience the hard work that goes into setting up and running your own enterprise. It was a pleasure to be in my home town this weekend and enjoy all that it has to offer from a good cup of coffee, a sweet treat or admire the work on display in a local gallery. At this busy time of the year for retailers it would be great to spread a bit of festive cheer by buying more right here on our doorstep.”

This is the 3rd year of the Small Business Saturday campaign which is a national event supported by MPs, local councils, larger corporations and shoppers.
