It was a pleasure to welcome Thirsk Rotary Club to Parliament today. A group of 20 members, from both Thirsk and Malton and the neighbouring Richmond constituency, travelled down from North Yorkshire. They were given a tour of the both the Commons and the Lords and watched some of the proceedings in the Chambers from the public gallery. After their tour they put me through my paces about all aspects of life as an MP, from constituency issues like local healthcare funding and agriculture, to more challenging questions about the role of Party Whips and balancing the demands of constituents and the Party. I look forward to meeting the Rotary Club again in March next year, when I will be speaking at their Charter Night event.
