New grant scheme: small UK charities working abroad can get grant aid as well.

I was delighted to welcome Rt.Hon.Priti Patel MP, the Secretary of State for International Development, to North Yorkshire recently for a meeting of supporters of a number of charities.

The meeting at St Leonard’s Church Rooms, Malton was an opportunity for supporters of charities such as Christian Aid, Catholic Action for Overseas Development (CAFOD), ABCD Bethlehem, Jacob’s Well, Electronic Medical Records for the Developing World (EMR4DW), Antibiotic Research UK and others operating in the constituency to come and meet the Minister, to raise their own concerns and learn of the current policies under which the Department for International Development (DFID) is operating.

They also heard from Priti Patel about the newly launched Small Charities Challenge Fund (SCCF) which is aiming grants of up to £50,000 at UK registered, non-profit organisations with an annual income of no more than £250,000.

It was very good of Priti Patel to come and spend time with people in our area who are doing such fantastic charitable work. SCCF is the first fund from DFID tailored to the needs of small, grassroots British charities doing outstanding humanitarian and development work of whom a number from the our area were at the meeting. I would encourage any relevant charity to apply as it could make a huge difference to their operational effectiveness. The link to apply for a grant is here: https://www.ukaiddirect.org/apply/
