Fantastic to visit Abingdon Health today to hear about their part in the future of women in STEM. As a STEM business, Abingdon are extremely proud that:

  • 54% of their workforce are women.
  • Their GPG (Gender Pay Gap) is 2.1%. (Manufacturing figures published 2021 @ 13%)
  • 1 of their 3 C-Suite members is female.
  • 56% of their leaders are women.
  • 75% of their Manufacturing leaders are women
  • 52% of their Manufacturing team are women

It's always fascinating to see such innovation and growth happening right here in Sand Hutton, now expanding across Yorkshire. As well as growing from 50 people to almost 200 people, Abingdon Health have also built an additional 9 laboratories across their York and Doncaster sites and invested in cutting edge lateral flow test automation technology. Growing companies such as this is vital to our economy, not least for providing job opportunities across Yorkshire and the UK. I look forward to supporting their work to bring the best and the brightest to Yorkshire. I hope to make this part of my wider work to encourage young local people to gain experience and employment in engineering and innovative businesses here in Thirsk and Malton.
