It was great to be invited to meet disability campaigner, Zack Kerr, who was in Parliament today, to present a petition with more than 100,000 signatures. Zack has cerebral palsy and has little movement in his limbs, cannot speak and requires constant care. Using his own experiences from a long car journey when he and his family stopped at three services stations between Accrington and South Wales for a rest break, but were unable to find Changing Places toilets in any of them. Changing Places toilets provide a hoist and special facilities for Zack and a quarter of a million other disabled people need. After making further inquiries Zack discovered that only a tiny minority of service stations have suitable facilities. This is clearly not good enough and so I am delighted to support his campaign in Parliament, calling on all motorway service station providers to install Changing Places facilities across all their sites as a matter of priority.
