Concerned about an apparent lack of NHS dental care in parts of his constituency Kevin Hollinrake, MP for Thirsk and Malton, recently met with Health Secretary, Jeremy Hunt MP, in Westminster. Mr. Hollinrake discussed his research into this specific problem as well as raising other issues relating to health care provision in the county.

In addition to this he held a meeting with NHS England in his Easingwold office last month to talk about local services. Mr. Hollinrake is also due to meet with Rt. Hon Alistair Burt MP, Minister of State for Community and Social Care, this week.

Mr Hollinrake has been looking into dentistry services in market towns, like Easingwold, where residents are struggling to find NHS appointments.  Access to mental health care has also been highlighted as a concern for people living in the area. The MP is keen to support all health care professionals working in the region whilst also helping people of all ages access appropriate and local services.

“I took the opportunity to ask the Health Secretary about funding for North Yorkshire for our hospitals, mental health care and NHS dentistry. We need a fair deal and one that reflects the challenges of travel costs and our ageing population. Mr Hunt has arranged for a follow up meeting with ministers to get to the bottom of these issues and I will continue to press for the funding and services we need.”
