This morning in the House of Commons Terese Coffey, Environment, Food and Rural Affairs Minister, was asked about air quality in Malton and Norton. During a question time on this issue Kevin Hollinrake MP spoke about the problem in these two towns in his constituency. He asked,

“The air quality in Malton and Norton is often at dangerous levels, would the Minister join me in urging North Yorkshire County Council to develop and implement a clear strategy to deal with this problem?”

In response the Minister said she agreed with Mr. Hollinrake in that local councils know their communities best and can come up with good schemes where they can work with local homeowners and business owners. She said national government has its part to play but she thought that “local action, with the help of a proactive MP, is good news for constituents.”

Kevin Hollinrake will continue to help to find a workable solution for local traffic management problems that will tackle both easing congestion and addresses the environmental impact of vehicle emissions.
