I am deeply saddened to hear about the loss of Barry Dodd in a helicopter accident and my thoughts and deepest condolences go to his wife, Frances, and his family. It is a terrible shock for everyone who knew and admired him. Barry was not only a respected businessman but someone who gave up so much of his own time to help others and support businesses – large and small – across Yorkshire. I was fortunate enough to have worked with him in a number of different capacities over many years and had huge respect for his drive, his passion and commitment to everything he did. He will be much missed and North Yorkshire has lost a great Lord-Lieutenant and a terrific ambassador for the county.
