Kevin Hollinrake recently met with the Horsetown Beer Company at their brewery in Cropton to see for himself what had impressed judges and customers. Last month it won the 2017 Ryedale Business Award for Start Up Business.
The Horsetown Beer Company began trading in July 2016. Owner, Howard Kinder, also works in horse racing and his son, Harry, is a jockey. The company supplies bottles, kegs and casks to local retailers and pubs.
Their drinks’ names are themed around the horseracing history of both Malton and Middleham, for example: Whitewall Golden Bitter, Blink Bonny Lager, James Croft Dark Bitter.
The business supports Racing Welfare, they give 5p per bottle and pint to the charity.
Mr Hollinrake enjoyed meeting the staff and seeing the brewery,
“What a great way to celebrate the history of horseracing in our county with an aptly named, tasty pint. I was happy to raise a glass to the future success of this local business especially knowing that they support the Racing Welfare charity.”
