The 4th Regiment Royal Artillery kindly gave Kevin Hollinrake MP a tour of Alanbrooke Barracks last week. During the visit he was delighted to meet men and women serving in the regiment and hear about their work. They explained what they do during combat in the field and how they operate their guns.

Mr Hollinrake was shown round by Commanding Officer, Lieutenant Colonel John Catto. The MP found the history of the regiment fascinating and was very interested in its past and current role in the UK and abroad.

“The soldiers of the 4th Regiment Royal Artillery who live and work in the constituency are an important part of our community and do an incredible job keeping us safe at home and abroad. They, and their families, contribute much towards local society. Recently the soldiers helped North Yorkshire residents during the floods, I am sure they were a welcome sight for those householders affected by the extreme rainfall.

It was really great to visit Alanbrooke. I appreciate the time they took to show me where they lived and explain their training. They obviously have a strong tie to the North East and to Topcliffe.  It was an honour to meet serving troops and I will give them my full support in my role as MP for Thirsk and Malton.”
