For five years, the hole at Hunmanby Gap has raised serious concerns — from restricted public access to ongoing flooding, subsidence, and even the risk of sinkholes near critical sewage and drainage infrastructure. This situation has gone on for far too long without resolution.
This afternoon, I brought together North Yorkshire Council, Yorkshire Water and the Environment Agency to address these issues directly. While there is still work ahead, I’m pleased that progress has been made and that both the Council and Yorkshire Water have committed to working collaboratively to resolve the problem.
I will continue to push for a solution and keep residents updated as this work moves forward.
