MP calls for road improvements around Farndale

Kevin Hollinrake is urging the Roads Minister to take into account the number of tourists who use the roads around Farndale in any future revision of funding allocations. Local residents, who are frustrated by the poor state of the roads, say the current formula for capital funding and general maintenance for roads does not take into account tourism and leisure traffic.

In his letter to the Minister, Andrew Jones,  Mr. Hollinrake said that Farndale has a significant number of tourists every year and this traffic contributes towards the deterioration of the roads.

Mr. Hollinrake was told at a meeting of Farndale West Parish Council that, although there had been some improvements, not enough was being done to fix the many potholes in the area and that more money needs to be allocated to resolve the problems.
