Following the latest report of Ofsted giving Ampleforth College an all-clear assessment, a visit was organised to congratulate the school on 9th December.

A new report, published a few weeks ago, found that Ampleforth College met all of the independent school standards and national minimum safeguarding standards.

To celebrate the welcome outcome of the recent Ofsted report and to congratulate the leadership of the school, together with Helmsley and Sinnington County Councillor George Jabbour, I visited Ampleforth College just before Christmas.

We met with the headteacher and members of staff and gave a presentation to A level politics students. We also ran a workshop to explain the role of local political representatives, whether it is a Member of Parliament or a Councillor.

I was delighted to take part in this event and thoroughly enjoyed the insightful questions from students. It's great to see students at Ampleforth are engaging with democracy and politics. The recent report by Ofsted is very welcome after working with the school on this for many months.”

Chair of Governors at Ampleforth College, Edward Sparrow, said: “All of us at Ampleforth College are very grateful to Kevin Hollinrake MP for his fantastic support over the past two years and were delighted to welcome him and Cllr George Jabbour to the school and to thank Kevin in person. Their thought-provoking presentation stimulated much debate amongst our students. The College is looking forward to 2023 with great confidence and under the leadership of a new Head, Peter Roberts.”

Councillor George Jabbour added: “It was a real pleasure to visit Ampleforth College and to congratulate the headteacher and the staff on the positive news that they have recently received from the national education regulator. Our local MP Kevin Hollinrake and I immensely enjoyed giving a joint presentation and running a political workshop. I was very impressed by the students’ knowledge and abilities!”
