I am delighted that the government has announced another raft of new measures to loosen the lockdown which means more businesses can re-open across Thirsk and Malton and we can start to enjoy our sports facilities again.

July 11th – outdoor performing arts and outdoor pools

Performing arts can now take place outdoors from with a socially distanced audience present. This means that outdoor theatres, opera, dance and music can resume from Saturday so long as they take place outside and with a limited and socially distanced audience. The Government will also work with the sector to pilot a number of small indoor performances with a social distanced audience to help inform plans about how best to get indoor venues back up and running. https://www.gov.uk/government/news/performing-arts-given-green-light-to-resume-outdoors-on-july-11 with further guidance here https://www.gov.uk/guidance/working-safely-during-coronavirus-covid-19/performing-arts

Outdoor pools can also reopen. https://www.gov.uk/government/news/government-announces-gyms-and-pools-to-reopen-safely

Recreational team sports including club cricket will be permitted to begin returning outdoors https://www.gov.uk/government/news/recreational-team-sport-to-return-safely-this-summer

July 13th – beauty salons, nail bars and tattoo studio

Beauty salons, nail bars, tattoo and massage studios, physical therapy businesses and spas across England will be able to reopen, with strict measures in place to ensure the safety of both workers and the public https://www.gov.uk/government/news/beauty-salons-set-to-reopen-for-some-services-next-week-under-new-government-guidelines

July 25th – indoor gyms and leisure centres

The Government has published guidance with input from industry bodies and in consultation with Public Health England and the Health and Safety Executive, which includes advice to pool, gym and leisure facilities on cleaning, social distancing and protection of staff to help get venues back up and running safely  https://www.gov.uk/government/news/government-announces-gyms-and-pools-to-reopen-safely
