I am so pleased to hear that the North Yorkshire Moors Railway has been awarded £4.6M by the National Lottery. This money will go towards NYMR’s Yorkshire’s Magnificent Journey, a £9.2M Sustainability Project which will secure the future of the railway to give enjoyment to hundreds of thousands of families for years to come. The Railway is a huge tourist attraction in my constituency and is supported by a thousand dedicated volunteers, without whom it could not survive. It’s a great day out for all the family through beautiful countryside, so if you haven’t taken a ride, I’d advise you to do so. The lottery cash, which has to be matched by donations and other grants, will make a big difference to the Railway and allow them to make repairs and improvements to one of the world’s most prestigious heritage railway lines.
