The Minister of State for Digital and Culture, Rt. Hon. Matt Hancock MP, agreed with Kevin Hollinrake MP when he asked about action he argued should be taken to connect homes in Tholthorpe to superfast broadband. Mr Hollinrake, MP for Thirsk and Malton, raised the issue on Thursday 16th March in the chamber. He has previously met with the minister, earlier this year, to discuss the problems encountered by residents in the village.
Kevin Hollinrake MP asked,
“In my village of Tholthorpe of 100 houses there 12 of them have not been enabled for superfast broadband, the rest have. Openreach could solve this problem by the simple deployment of a wireless connection, but refused to do so. Does the Minister agree with me that contractors taking public money should use all means at their disposal to solve these problems?”
Matt Hancock MP replied, “Yes I do.”
Mr Hollinrake is committed to getting properties in his rural constituency access to superfast broadband as soon as possible and continues to seek solutions to enable residents and businesses to get connected.
