I'm pleased North Yorkshire County Council is one of nine local authorities successful in securing funding from the Local EV Infrastructure (LEVI) Fund Pilot, launched in March this year. North Yorkshire County Council will receive £2,000,000 from the £10m fund. The project will deliver 70 public electric vehicle (EV) chargepoints and related infrastructure. This will support the equitable rollout of EV charging infrastructure, particularly for those households without off-street parking.

I look forward to engaging with NYCC on the further rollout of public charging infrastructure. As someone who owns an electric car, I especially recognise the charging network is key to making the transition to electric vehicles, which in turn will improve air quality in our towns and cities, reduce harmful emissions, and support green jobs across the UK.

Overall, this initial £10m portfolio of projects for the LEVI Pilot will deliver over 1100 chargepoints and leverage nearly £9m in private investment. It will also provide key learnings and information to support the design of the full £450m LEVI scheme, due to launch next year. Alongside this, the On-street Residential Chargepoint fund will continue to run this financial year. The fund has seen nearly 2,900 chargepoints installed so far with funding provided for approaching 10,000 additional chargepoints in the future.
