In the first week back in Parliament Kevin Hollinrake MP has been researching the progress of delivering efficient broadband communication across his constituency. Mr Hollinrake is keenly aware of the importance of a swift and reliable service for businesses and residents in rural areas. In order to compete in a global market place and for effective work relationships he understands people need to be properly connected as soon as possible.
On Thursday 10th September he spoke in the Westminster Hall Debate - Delivery of Rural Broadband where he pressed the Minster to offer more investment and innovative solutions for those businesses and residents in the hardest to reach areas.
“I felt it was extremely importance to express the views of my constituents in this matter. I was pleased to hear that the Minister has now agreed to look again at rolling out voucher schemes to rural areas, which were previously only available to cities. The Minister has also agreed to meet with local wireless Internet provider Moorsweb who provide an excellent service in Rosedale, Farndale and Bransdale.”
During his electoral campaign and since being in office Mr Hollinrake has consistently stressed the importance of dependable and fast Internet communication. He is working hard to promote the swift development of broadband across North Yorkshire. Kevin Hollinrake welcomed the recent approval by North Yorkshire County council for more funding to be released for the next phase of their SFNY Project. This week Kevin also attended a panel discussion entitled “Connecting Britain: will the Government’s strategy solve our broadband crisis?”
In the oncoming weeks he will be meeting both Moorsweb and Superfast North Yorkshire with whom he has been in discussion about the challenges facing his constituency and potential solutions.
