Following the news that Derwent Practice have withdrawn hospital blood tests, local MP Kevin Hollinrake has issued the following statement:
"Whilst I greatly appreciate the excellent work of our local GPs and the funding pressure they are under, I think it is wrong to temporarily withdraw these services as part of the BMA National Collective Action. I urge both sides to get round a table and hammer out a deal, which should be reachable without resorting to industrial action of this kind.
Action of this kind has a disproportionately adverse impacts on those in rural areas and I have been in touch with the Integrated Care Board and expect measures to be introduced shortly to minimise these effects."
