I want to hear from local business and traders to better understand your needs and concerns, so I've launched a wide-ranging business survey to help inform my work in Westminster and build a local business directory to help local people shop local and support our high streets. I will be hand delivering letters about this in towns across Thirsk and Malton over the coming weeks, with a QR code to access the survey, but if anyone wants to complete it prior to this you are welcome to do so.
Before becoming an MP, I was in business for 30 years, so I am acutely aware of the toil and sacrifice of business owners across the country and in Thirsk and Malton. Let’s not pretend the last few years have been easy for independent traders and the High Street but with the support put in place as by the previous Government, I believe much brighter days lie ahead. As we look to the future, I am keen to understand what more support businesses in Thirsk and Malton need to thrive and what more I can do to encourage my constituents to shop local. I hope business owners will take time to complete the survey to help ensure we continue to have a thriving business scene across Thirsk and Malton.
The surveys launch follows Kevin’s appointment as Shadow Secretary of State for Business and Trade. Kevin has already visited dozens of local businesses to advertise the survey and is hoping to get round too many more in the coming weeks and months.
You can access the survey here.
