Apprentices from Hambleton told their MP what the job training scheme has meant to them. Kevin Hollinrake, MP for Thirsk and Malton, visited SuperSkills last Thursday. Located on the Thirsk Rural Business Centre the company teach apprentices to help them prepare for a career in construction.
During the morning Mr. Hollinrake spoke to several apprentices about their work. Joe Wray was one of the Bricklaying Apprentices who talked to the MP about his trade and what he had been learning. Office (Business Administration) Apprentice Eleanor Warris also got to talk about her experiences and her role at the company. The Chief Executive of SuperSkills Limited, Peter Walker, expressed his thanks to Mr Hollinrake for his visit and his interest in the various training the young people were receiving.
“I am delighted that Kevin Hollinrake came to see us at SuperSkills. I know he supports apprenticeships and it was great to welcome him to our site in Thirsk especially during National Apprenticeship Week.”
National Apprenticeship Week is designed to celebrate apprenticeships and the positive impact they have on individuals, businesses and the wider economy. Kevin Hollinrake appreciates these training schemes can open doors to a productive and prosperous career for many school leavers. He is keen to continue lend his assistance and show his support as an MP both locally and nationally.
“This week has been a positive way to highlight the importance of apprenticeships. So much can be gained from the experience and many people have gone on to great things after starting out on this career path. I will continue to help promote the good that schemes like those offered at SuperSkills can offer. I was also interested to hear that the current employment status requirement for the scheme are limiting the number of construction apprenticeships and will be raising the matter on the floor of the House. I wish the people I met at Thirsk all the best in their future jobs.”
