I was devastated to hear of the terrible news of the tragic and senseless loss of Jo Cox MP and my thoughts are with all her family, particularly her husband, children and parents. I served on the same committee as Jo, and it was a pleasure to know her. She clearly stood out as someone with great compassion, intellect and huge talent. Most importantly, she was a lovely, decent person and is a huge loss to parliament, her community, her family and her many friends. I would also like to pay tribute to the brave individuals who went to Jo’s aid and the unarmed police officers who arrested the alleged assailant. May she rest in peace.
