I was delighted to be able to support Back British Farming Day today. The whole farming industry is hugely important to my constituency and to the country as a whole. Altogether over 180 MPs and peers from both sides of the House signed the pledge, which shows how much we value its contribution to the economy. The UK food and farming sector is worth £109 billion and represents around 3.8 million jobs. The campaign is a reminder that we should never take food for granted and that we should all do our bit by buying British and respect our countryside which farmers work so hard to look after on our behalf.
